Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the MatchUp mobile application ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. MatchUp reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

2. Eligibility

• You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use MatchUp independently
• Users between 13 and 17 years old may use the App with verifiable parental or guardian consent
• Users under 13 are not permitted to use MatchUp
• By creating an account, you represent that you meet these age requirements

3. Account Responsibility

• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
• You must provide accurate information during registration and keep your profile up to date
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
• You must not share your account or allow others to access it
• Notify us immediately at support@playmatchup.app if you suspect unauthorised access

4. Acceptable Use

When using MatchUp, you agree not to:

• Cheat or manipulate results: Submitting false match results, colluding with opponents to fix outcomes, or deliberately losing to manipulate Elo ratings
• Harass other users: Using abusive, threatening, or discriminatory language in chat, reviews, or any communication
• Create fake accounts: Operating multiple accounts, impersonating other users, or creating accounts with false information
• Spam or disrupt: Sending unsolicited messages, flooding chat, or interfering with other users' experience
• Abuse the booking system: Repeatedly creating and cancelling bookings, no-showing without notice, or misusing venue reservations
• Reverse engineer: Attempting to decompile, reverse engineer, or extract source code from the App
• Circumvent security: Bypassing authentication, accessing other users' data, or exploiting vulnerabilities

Violations may result in warnings, temporary suspension, permanent ban, or Elo rating penalties at our sole discretion.

5. Match Rules

Creating Matches

• Match hosts are responsible for accurate match details (sport, format, venue, time)
• Matches must have a minimum 2-hour lead time before the scheduled start
• Hosts may cancel matches before the scheduled time; participants will be notified

Joining Matches

• By joining a match, you commit to attending at the scheduled time and venue
• Repeated no-shows may result in account restrictions
• Players may leave a match before it starts; this frees the slot for others

Match Results

• Casual match results are submitted by the host
• Ranked match results require verification by an on-site referee via PIN entry
• Once a result is confirmed and Elo ratings are updated, the result is final and cannot be reversed
• Disputed results should be reported to support@playmatchup.app within 24 hours

6. Elo Rating System

• All players start at an Elo rating of 1,000 in each sport
• Elo changes are calculated automatically based on match outcome, team ratings, and format
• Elo ratings are subject to decay if you are inactive for extended periods (ranked matches only)
• The Elo system, tier boundaries, and calculation formula are determined by MatchUp and may be adjusted at any time
• Elo manipulation through match fixing, fake accounts, or collusion will result in a permanent ban and rating reset

7. Pro Subscription

• MatchUp Pro is a paid subscription that unlocks the ranked ladder, Elo tracking, and prize pool eligibility
• Subscriptions are billed monthly through Google Play or the Apple App Store
• Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain Pro access until then
• Refunds are handled by Google Play or the Apple App Store per their respective refund policies
• Free promotional Pro access may be granted through promotions and is non-transferable

8. Venue Bookings

• MatchUp facilitates court bookings at verified partner venues
• Booking payments are advance payments to the venue, processed through our payment partners
• Once a booking is confirmed, the advance payment is non-refundable except in cases where the venue cancels
• Booking slots are held for a 15-minute reservation window; if not confirmed within this window, the slot may be released
• Remaining court fees (if any) are paid directly to the venue on the day of play
• MatchUp is not responsible for venue conditions, closures, or disputes with venue operators

9. Payments and Prize Pools

• All prices and fees are displayed in Pakistani Rupees (Rs.)
• Ranked match entry fees contribute to the monthly prize pool
• Prize pool payouts are distributed to the top-ranked players at the end of each month
• Prize eligibility requires an active Pro subscription and a minimum number of ranked matches played during the month
• MatchUp reserves the right to modify prize pool amounts, distribution rules, and payout schedules
• Prize payouts are made via bank transfer or mobile wallet and may be subject to applicable taxes

10. Reviews and Sportsmanship

• After each match, players may leave sportsmanship reviews (1-5 rating) for opponents
• Reviews must be honest and based on the actual match experience
• Abusive, retaliatory, or fraudulent reviews may be removed and may result in account action
• Your sportsmanship score is visible to other players on your profile

11. Intellectual Property

The MatchUp name, logo, design, code, and all related content are the property of MatchUp. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the App without our written consent. User-generated content (profile photos, chat messages) remains yours, but you grant MatchUp a licence to display it within the App.

12. Limitation of Liability

MatchUp is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• We are not liable for injuries, damages, or losses arising from in-person sports activities organised through the App
• We are not liable for venue conditions, safety, or the conduct of other users
• We are not liable for service interruptions, data loss, or technical failures
• Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid to MatchUp in the 12 months preceding the claim
• You participate in sports activities at your own risk and are responsible for your own physical safety

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MatchUp, its officers, and employees from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another user.

14. Termination

• You may delete your account at any time through the App settings or by contacting support
• We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these Terms, fraudulent activity, or at our discretion with reasonable notice
• Upon termination, your access to the App ceases. Data deletion follows our Privacy Policy
• Outstanding prize payouts owed to you at the time of termination will be honoured, provided no Terms violations are involved

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Pakistan. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of MatchUp shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Islamabad, Pakistan.
