MatchUp ("we", "our", "us") operates a sports matchmaking platform for padel, football, and cricket in Pakistan. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile application and related services.

By using MatchUp, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

• Full name and display name
• Email address
• Phone number (used for authentication and notifications)
• Profile photo
• City and gender
• Date of birth (for age verification)

Sports and Activity Data

• Sports preferences (padel, football, cricket)
• Elo ratings and tier progression per sport
• Match history, results, win/loss records
• Sportsmanship reviews and reputation scores
• Badges and achievements

Location Data

• City selection for match filtering
• Venue location data when creating or joining matches
• We do not continuously track your location in the background

Payment Information

• Transaction records for Pro subscriptions, match entry fees, and venue bookings
• Payment method details are processed by third-party payment providers (Safepay, JazzCash, EasyPaisa) and are not stored on our servers

Device and Usage Data

• Device type, operating system, and app version
• Push notification tokens
• In-app interactions and feature usage patterns

3. How We Use Your Information

• Matchmaking: To match you with players of similar skill levels in your city and preferred sports
• Rankings: To calculate and display Elo ratings, leaderboard positions, and tier progression
• Venue Bookings: To facilitate court reservations at partner venues
• Communication: To send push notifications for match updates, friend requests, chat messages, and results
• Payments: To process Pro subscriptions, entry fees, prize payouts, and venue booking payments
• Safety: To enforce fair play, detect cheating, and maintain the integrity of the ranked system
• Improvement: To analyse usage patterns and improve the app experience

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate MatchUp:

• Supabase: Database hosting, authentication, file storage, and real-time messaging (servers in Singapore)
• Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google): Push notification delivery
• Safepay: Payment processing for subscriptions, entry fees, and venue bookings
• JazzCash / EasyPaisa: Mobile wallet payment options (via Safepay aggregation)
• Google Play / Apple App Store: In-app purchase processing for Pro subscriptions
• Expo (Expo Application Services): App build and update delivery

Each third-party service operates under its own privacy policy. We only share the minimum data necessary for each service to function.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data to advertisers or third parties. Your data may be shared in these limited circumstances:

• Public profile: Your display name, avatar, Elo ratings, match history, and badges are visible to other MatchUp users
• Match participants: Players in your matches can see your name, Elo, and sport profiles
• Venue partners: Booking details (name, contact, time slot) are shared with the venue you book
• Legal compliance: We may disclose data if required by Pakistani law or valid legal process

6. Data Retention

• Your account data is retained for as long as your account is active
• Match history and Elo records are retained indefinitely to maintain ranking integrity
• Chat messages are retained for the duration of the match plus 30 days
• If you delete your account, your personal data will be removed within 30 days. Anonymised match records may be retained for statistical purposes

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS), secure authentication (email OTP and phone verification), row-level security policies on our database, and service-role authentication on all server functions. Payment data is handled exclusively by PCI-compliant third-party processors.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information via your profile settings
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data
• Opt-out: Disable push notifications through your device settings

9. Children's Privacy

MatchUp is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, we will delete that information immediately. Users between 13 and 18 require parental or guardian consent to use the app.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of MatchUp after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. For material changes, we will notify users via push notification or in-app notice.
